: I love the Bass, and have recently decided to learn how to play it. I've look at a lot of stuff on the Internet, but truthfully have no ideal on how to get stated. If anyone has any advice on what type of Bass I should start out with, or anything that you think will help. I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Jade,
Congratulations!

Like James said, the Yamaha, Ibanez, and Samick basses are good, but you might want to check out the Kramer Focus 420S bass at www.MusicYo.com; I just got one Friday, and right out of the box, I was *very* impressed!

Even better, the Kramer is only $89.95; they've also got a bass/amp combo for around $150.

To get yourself started, I'll second what James said; get some lessons from someone who knows what they're doing. It's easy to develop bad habits and technique if you try it yourself, and it's *very* difficult to have to 'unlearn' and learn stuff over again.

Ditto for James' advice about learning theory and *practicing*!

Hope that helps! Let us know how you're doing!

-Bob
