: hey all,
: well, im recently purchased a nice squire P-Bass 5, and im lookin for an amp that'll be able to handle the low end. Im a guitarist, and im takin up the bass as a 2nd instrument, and any advice on makin the transistion would also be helpful.
Hey Andy, how's it going? If you've got a 5 string, I'd recommend getting
a combo with a 15" speaker. You could also get an amp with 2x10s, but, that
would be more expensive. I imagine money is a primary consideration. Try
www.carvin.com. They have amps from about $300.00 They also have two combos
with 15s; one is 100 watts, the other is 160 watts. I have a Fender Bassman 60
which sounds very good, however, its only got one 12" speaker, and I don't
think it would give you the full depth you'd want from your 5 string. Then again, Fender has more powerful amps, it all comes down to how much you have to spend.
Jazz it up,
