: I'm looking to trade my EDEN WT-800 and I have a offer of a Pearce BC-1 or an Alembic FX-1 pre-amp along with a Crown Power Base 2. The EDEN is only 6 months old with out a scratch but its just not my sound. I play a variety of music from latin to funk to heavy rock. I need some versatility. I'm looking for some advice since I've never used either of these units before and I think that the Pearce company is no longer in business. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You're right, Pearce preamps are not being made anymore (Billy Sheeah was its most notorious endorser). Last thing I remember is a very positive review published in one of the first issues of BP mag. I can't remember which issue it was right now, but if you're interested, I can search it for you as soon as I get back home from vacation (I'm in the middle of my vacation right now). So, if you're interested, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll email you a scanned archive. Buena suerte and keep your bass up front in the mix,
