there's a used gear store in my town that's selling a 4-string electric bass with a scalloped ebony fingerboard. the scallops are very deep and the fretwire is extra jumbo. the bass is a Schecter with a body that resembles a telecaster
I've heard of scalloped fingerboards on guitars, but why on bass? what's the advantages? I was on my lunch break and didn't have time to play on this thing, but I would imagine that fretting notes would be a nightmare since your fingers don't touch the fingerboard and you'd have to play with a light touch
what are your thoughts on this?
