: Hi guys...
: I play a lot of stuff by Deftones and other such bands, and they almost always tune down to at least a D, maybe a C# (let's not even talk about Sevendust's Home - which tunes down to G#). Due to the cheapness of my bass, the strings tend to be very floppy, and the notes indistinct and "thuddy". What I was wondering is, would heavier strings help? Or would lighter strings help? Would a longer scale bass help? Or maybe a shorter scale bass? Maybe thick pickness (or pick thickness... :).
: thanks in advance,

I sometimes tune my bass to BEAD or CEAD and the thicker the strings the better. more tension. just don't expect to tune up. Longer scale also helps. I don't know about Thick Pickles (or picks);)
