: Although its a drag, ALWAYS wipe down your strings
: after use and don't play bass after eating a burger,
: without first washing your hands. These things will
: lengthen the life of your strings.
: Once dirty however boiling does regain life for a week
: two, BUT I can't believe slackening off the strings,
: boiling them, then putting them back under pressure is
: good for the string's structure. There is bound to be
: some slipping of the wrap against the core during this
: process and the only strings I've ever snapped were
: boiled ones. For this reason I support the use of a
: cleaner, whilst remembering to place something under
: the strings to keep the claener off the fingerboard.

you are pry. right, BUT those new Peavy strings (don't laugh) Therma somethin or other.
have the wrap fused to the core. i was very surprised. the tone lasted for two
weeks of straight playing. AND after boiling twice they still stood up.
they are worth a check.
