I assume by saying $500-$800 range that you are talking about out of pocket rather than retail. Therefore, I would steer you towards the Eden stuff. I currently have (2)...the Traveler and Road Runner. They both sound great. For your purposes, the Traveler would be in your range at 300 (or 400) watts and deals for around $650. Dave used to work at SWR during the days and builds extremely solid toys. Very reliable and unbelievable tone. I keep my FLAT, with an occasional bass boost. Spank your 5 string til your heart's content. Good luck finding them used....no one wants to part with theirs.

opps, the only draw back is the way Eden rates the output into 4Ohms. The amps really like having (2) 8 ohm cabs hooked up to them. This is definately a good compromise (having 2 speaker cabs) unless you are runnig an SVT or Henry 8x8. However, with the killer 2x10s on the market these days, you really don't need to be lugging around (2) speaker cabinets. I mostly bring them along so I can draw the impedence to 4 ohms. oh well.

Rumble on.
