: When it comes down to the nitty gritty, Do you lose something when you have a bass w/ bolt on neck as opposed to a bass w/ neck through body???

Brock,

It seems to be a matter of opinion. I have a $4000 boutique bass with a bolt on neck. The Luthier who was very famous
for his neck - through bodies now insists that he gets a better tone and attack with a bolt on neck. If you check around,
you can find a few more famous bass luthiers who only make bolt ons.

I used to have a Pedulla neck through, and I can tell you that my MTD basses with bolt on necks sound alot
better.

Ultimately, it's what sounds better to you that counts. Some people find that they gert a better sound with bolt ons; some don't.
I'd suggest that you get the bass which sounds better to you.

Good Luck

Rob Perl
