I've got a B-4CE with the Fishman pickup. It has become

one of my favorites with regards to playability. Awesome.

It's worth getting a small amp to "compete" with louder

guitars etc.

But, it was over $800 new....

: : I,ve been trying to narrow down my selection on buying a new/used acoustic bass without being able to try'em out. I'm playing older classics (70's +) in small tavern settings. I really would like a bass that is the best of both worlds (plugged or unplugged)for under 1000. Only a few have caught my eye:Tacoma CB-10-E4, Guild B 30E, Takamine Jasmine ES100C, Washburn AB-20, AB-40, Martin B-1. Since I cannot try any of them, is there anyone who has and swilling to comment on them? Thanks Duff

: The best 'acoustic' one under $1000 is the Hohner (abt $350) unplugged. None are good

: enough unplugged to play a room. You could use a small Pignose Bass amp which will

: be in keeing with an acoustic.
