: I've just received Carvin's free catalog and noticed their bass strings go for about $29.00 for 3 packs. Does anybody know the actual brand of strings these are (since they most probably are not actually manufactured by Carvin)? Has anyone used them, and if so, are they any good? This is one of the best prices I've ever seen on strings and if I can save a buck without sacrificing tone, I'm game, yannow? Thanks -

> Hi Karel...Carvin's strings are made by GHS...Nickel wound...
decent, but not great...Try the D'addario prisms, stainless hex-core
ultra bright, they just last and last..They're the best I've tried in
25 years, period..They'll cost 20 bucks or so a set, but will last
at least twice as long.

Cheers,
Pat H
