: Has anyone played the Danelectro Longhorn, if so, how does it play and sound? Right now I play a Dean Edge Q4, but I joined a band that has a 50's thing going, and they want me to get something older looking.

Can't say I liked it much..The Longhorn is a short scale bass, it
just didn't have any guts, and it felt like a toy...If you want a vintage
looking instrument without the vintage price, try one of those re-issue
Fenders...I tried one of those re-issue stack knob Jazz basses at the
NAMM show here in L.A. in January, I'm still kicking myself for not
buying it on the last day of the show, it was a creme colored bass
with a rosewood fingerboard and a tortoise colored pickguard,
the thing just KILLED....Man, I should have bought that bass..It blew
away my 70's Jazz bass, and It's no slouch...Oh well, we all do stupid
things that we regret later..... :-(
