: : i'm considering buying an ADA MB1 preamp unit (secondhand)...

: : does anyone have any experience of them? i need the programmability as my band sets up patches for each song - sadly the bass market seems a bit limited in this respect. and i need the compression feature. but i'm also looking for a good basic tone...

: : also, does anyone have any power amp recommendations?

: : by the way, i play a musicman V.

: : thanks for your time.

: Hey Tom,

: I would watch out trying to play a Musicman bass through one of these preamps. Their headroom is limited,
and you bass has a very loud output, which could cause undue distortion and overloading the preamp, which
won't sound good. I used one of these for awhile, but had to get rid of it because of this reason. I would
say to try it out first to make sure you like it. Hope this helps,
DAMII
: I have one and it's noisy as hell. Now It may just be my unit, as I am the third owner,
: but the compression function has worked well in the past.
: I have no use for the other features because I use a Bass Synth and a distortion pedal already.
: As for tone I think that lies in your bass and amplification
: (I play a Tobias Growler 5 and a Trace head and cab).

: So Sayeth Chris!
