I've seen quite a few posts inquiring about some good bass instruction books.
Here's a few I have used and feel are noteworthy:

Fingerboard Harmony For Bass - Gary Willis - Hal-Leonard Publishing
(Good Beginner Book!)
Mel Bay's Complete Book Of Bass Essentials - Bunny Brunel - Mel Bay Publications
Bass Guitar Scale Manual - Harvey Vinson - Amsco Publications
Note Reading Studies For Bass - Arnold Evans - Mel Bay Publications

If you master these books, you will become a very strong bass player in both
theory & technique. You can probably find them on BASSBOOKS.COM or MELBAY.COM
or BASSPROTIPS.COM
The last book on note reading is mostly for those who would like to pursue
playing professionally doing session work...they don't hand you TAB at a
session gig....LOL

When I say "MASTER" I mean practice, practice, practice!....LOL

HAVE FUN!
