: I play a Fender Jazz fretless with epoxy on the board, and this is the only bass I slap on. The guy I
: emulate most is Tony Franklin. He played with Jimmy page in the Firm, and slapped quite regularly, and
: I play my bas in the same way sometimes. It isn't exactly like a fretted slap sound, but I like it, as
: the pops actually contain a pitch to them, rather than being all percussive in effect. Some guys can
: slap a fretted bass well, but I am not one of them. The fretless though, I really get into. Hope this helps,

How about hammer-ons and -offs (AKA, tapping)? I am in the process of having
my P-bass frets taken out and an active Bartolini P/U put in specifically to
come up with a fretless bass to play, but I am wondering how that will affect
my tapping technique.
