: : I normally use Thomastik Spirocores for jazz pizz, am considering trying the D'Addario helicore hybrids becasue I'm doing more gigs with bowing lately --- any thoughts/advice? It's an expensive mistake!

: I'm not speaking from personal experience but I heard the Hybrids were not that much bow-friendly.
: The Corellis could be a better compromise string for you, maybe.
: The 370TX model. (tungsten extra-forte gauge)
: Don't be confused by the 'extra-forte'. They're thinner than Spiros.

Here's vote #3 for the Corelli strings. Make sure you get model 370, they are quite different from their regular string, a different model#. Either the TX or Forte weight are great, and as François says, they are gauged much lighter than other strings. Great arco and great jazz sustain in one string.
