: I just bought a Kay and have been playing electric for 22 years. I am wading my way through all the info I can find on strings and tensions but I am finding it very confusing. I want to play Rockabilly and I need some help finding good strings to try. I already know about the Innovation Rockabilly strings but what should I look at other than that. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You'll find a link to a string survey I did a while back, but I don't recall much rockabilly content, at least yet (I'll be updating it again soon).

There is also a link (under strings) to a rockabilly site with a guy quite knowledgeable about gut for rockabilly, which he also sells. Many rbilly players prefer gut, especially those who want to emulate the 50's roots sounds.

You'll also find a link to a site with several rockabilly players under the Players section, with their emails, so you can inquire directly with a few players as to their preferences and experiences.

I'll also take this opp to plug the Rockabilly pickup system I developed a couple years ago - http://www.gollihur.com/kkbass/slapspec.html
