: I am looking into buying a GK 400RB head to matchnup with a 12 inch Bag End cabinet. Is GK reliable? I hear that the sound is very good. The amp is only 15 lbs. and has shping and contour levels. I also use a Fishman Parametric EQ.
: I am also cosidering a Clarus amp, but fear that it doesn't have enough wattage for the Bag End or other cabinets I have with 2 tens in them.
: Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am doublebassist in jazz.

Re: I am currently using a Clarus head with a Bag End Speaker setup, and believe me, it is plenty loud enough. It also works fine with my Carvin 210 Speakers, also. And the fact that the amp is less than five pounds and fits in my Briefcase is a big plus.It also goes to 2 Ohms, so it will work with just about any speaker configuration you can put together. The Bag Ends are a very efficient speaker, and I have been very happy with them. Compare this- The GK puts out 240 watts max and costs $450 new. (Musicians Friend) The Clarus Puts out 300 watts max and also costs $450 new,(Lemur Music) and comes with carrying case and neutrik cables. The GK has a 4-Band EQ and a limiter, The Clarus has Bass,Mid,Treble and brightness, and a built in buffer pre-amp for piezos, so you don't really need the outboard pre amp.To put it another way, I used to use a GK 400, now I don't.
