: : Hi,does anyone have any ideas on the best small combo amp and or pickup for my bass please. I work work with various small jazz combos and need something portable, but with a good sound. I used to think it was the Polytone brute, but I can't find one for love nor money. Any ideas gratefully received.
: : Thanks

: I have been eperimenting the last few years, and have seen input from other players.First let me say that the higher wattage the better the sound. I thought that the SWR 100 watt combo would do the trick, but it lacks the sound i was looking for Too much transistor sound if you know what I mean.I also bought a small 12 inch Bag End cabinet.Forget it. I t all depends on what kind of bread you want to spend. I hear that the Gallien Krueger Micro Combo 150 watts is great, and only 24 lbs. I think an ideal small set up would be a David Eden WT400 watt head coupled with a Rick Raezer 12 inch cabinet. That would cost approx. 1500 dollars.Good Luck

steve,i only have limited knowledge in this area but i bought the "BASS MAX PRO"
from good old uncle BOB,and also the swr workingmans 12,both are excellent products.i play in a 3/4 piece band playing irish and country/bluegrass tunes/songs in small pubs and clubs.only on a few occasians have i struggled to hear myself, although friends in the audience say they can hear it fine,so position seems to be the key, again Good luck
