: : : I need a pickup to play double bass in a student jazz group. My teacher recommends Fischman, but his sounds harsh when he plays. I hear the Realist is good, but it's expensive. The Underwood and new LR Baggs also interest me. I would like to hear what people think. Thanks!
: : I reccomend the barcus berry or the shadow pickup for a good pickup under $125
: It all depends what your needs are concerning a pickup I have the realist and it is a great pick-up I also use a K&K pick-up (wing mount)which is a very good pick-up It has a much faster attack than the realist very punchy the realist is a good pick-up acoustic jazz(trio's)etc.but if you think you will need more cut and punch in your sound go with the K&K.I also have a underwood and there is no comparison the K&K pick-up is far betterand it's only 90.00
:I tried the barcus berry ,then the fishman, then the underwood, which is the one i stuck with for ten years.I have just heard about the K&K pick ups and am very interested to try them.
