You'll probably want to rent a case, unless you're planning on flying with the
instrument a lot...a good one costs a few thousand dollars...if you can't come
up with a case, the only other option would be to take the bass on the plane
with you and buy a second ticket. I've flown with my bass once before with
minimal difficulty...but remember that their suggestion of how to FIT it into
the seat might not be the best one because they may not be aware of how fragile
the instrument is. Putting it upside down in the seat works fine, just have
a pillow under the scroll so it doesn't rest on the floor.
