Can anyone answer these related questions? I don't play that much, so maybe they're boneheaders. But, I've learned some of the bass line to Relaxin at Camarillo in Chuck Sher's "Improviser's Bass Method." But without the chords, I'm having a hard time analyzing the notes to make sense of them musically. Does anyone know the chords to that version of the song? I've got a set of chords, but how do i know Mraz isn't playing alternative chords? Also, are teh chords the same in every chorus, or is it possible that different substitutes are being made in different choruses. Also, I'm wondering, instead of offering bar-by-bar chords, Sher just writes "C Blues." Is that somehow supposed to give me all the information I need? If so, Sher doesn't seem to explain this concept. I've been using chord-based instruction books like Ed Friedland's and Rufus Reid's, so I'm in the dark when it comes to Sher's chordless transcriptions. Maybe I'm missing something on a higher plane. I would appreciate any practical or philosophical help anyone has to offer about this matter, because it's puzzling the heck out of me.
