: I have been dealing with finding the right head to suit my needs. There are certain factors to consider. First is the speaker cabinet you are hooking into, secondly the types of gigs you are playing at. A GK 400RB would only handle a medium size venue. For the extra money the 700 would give you a cleaner sound. Personally I bought a SVT Pro 3 Ampeg head that has 450 watts of power and also has tube option. It costs about 800 dollars and sounds great with all my cabinets.I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the hartke 3500 and 4000 heads for double bass. I'm looking into buying one, but I've heard several really good reviews and several really bad ones. The only other decent bass heads that are in my price range are The Gk 400rb and 700rb, if you have any einfo about these pleas include it as well. Are there any other reasonably priced bass heads that sound good for double bass?

: Also, I've heard good things about the hartke kickback combo amps, and I was thinking about getting the one with the 15 inch speaker for smaller gigs. But I've heard that 15's sound like crap for double bass, is this true? If so would there be a drastic difference in volume between the 10" kickback and the 15" kickback.

: thanks,
: any input is greatly appreciated
