Taking offers on a French Bass
Laszlo Pinter, of Pinterís Violin Shop, Chicago, appraised this bass in April of 1995. He wrote, ď It was made by Gond and Bernandel Co. in France in 1870. It has a swelled back of two pieces of maple; the top is made of two pieces of medium-grain spruce. The color of the instrument is red over yellow base. The condition of the instrument is good. The present day replacement value-- in my opinion-- is $30,000."
