: : Hi everybody! I've been playing jazz bass pretty seriously now for about
: : 5 years and am recently becoming serious about classical bass too. I recently
: : put a set of Thomastik Spirocore Weichs on my bass but am not happy with
: : their bowed response. I want strings that sound warm and rich when bowed and
: : still have good sustain for pizz. Are there any good hybrid strings out there that fit this description or should I buy a set for each style?
: : Derek

: IMHO Corelli 370TX fit the bill. They bow very smoothly, not scratchy like the Spiros, and have nice sustain. A little bright when you first put them on, but they calm down nicely after a week or so.

: I have to strongly agree with Bob G. The Corellis 370TX are excellent for both bowing and pizz.
They have a good sustain and a decent volume. And very good with instruments with thin tops like
mine.(Less tension).
