: : I am considering buying a set of LaBella Plain gut strings to play Blugrass/Rockabilly on my Kay. Since I usually get great info from this board I am looking for any comments on expiriences. Do they last long? As a newbie to Upright(but not to electric) I need input. This is the first set of strings I will be buying and I would like to make it a good one.

: I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD GO TO THE EXPENSE/TROUBLE OF MAINTAINING GUT STRINGS
: FOR BLUEGRASS. SUPERNIL(NYLON) OR THOMASTIK(STEEL) WORK PRETTY GOOD, ARE LESS
: EXPENSIVE, AND MORE PUNCHY, AT LEAST FOR ME.
My vote is for labella gut 980 'best string out there. they will last up to maybe 2 yrs. and still sound ok. on a kay bass it's the deal . use one side of an underwood pickup, tube preamp, power amp, 4 eden bass cabs and rumble yer hood homie . thats my set up. 3 kays.all with labella 980's.
