: Has Anyone tried the AMT mic?Any problems with converting xlr to 1/4 in.? Any comments are welcome.

There are two AMT mics out there: one is for live settings, (more directional, helps drown out drums,) and the other is more studio oriented. Both are highly recommended - check out Rufus Reid, (The Evolving Bassist,) as he uses them exclusively. Converting xlr to 1/4 inch is a different thing though. There is an inherent loss anytime you convert. With a direct box, the difference is inaudible. However, if you get one of those xlr/quart.inch cords, you will diminishing the signal. How audible the difference will be depends on the setting, but I would strongly encourage you NOT to go this route. My band owns two, and our sound guy, an audiophile to say the least, refuses to use them. Granted, what you hear is the ultimate test, but I've only heard bad reports.
