Richmond VA and I was quite impressed with the arco sound of the instrument. The fit and finish was immaculate and it came complete with an adustable bridge and a pickup. What do you folks think about this instrument? Has anyone else played one?

: Phil, it is whatever you think! If you like it, and it plays for you, then knock yourself out. Admittedly, I have never seen a Knilling "Slim", and I wouldn't dream(nightmare) of purchasing a double bass as MARS, but if your like it, and you sound good (i.e.,confidence) then it really doesn't matter what anybody else thinks.

Hey Phil,

I just finished 32 shows of the musical "Fosse" at the "National Theatre" in Wash. D.C. and used the Knilling Jazz Bass in the pit and it was a joy to play. Whay makes it even better is you don't have to set foot into those snobby upright shops & pay snobby upright prices. Great bass at a great price that you will take out and use.
