: what are the pros and cons of laminated vs solid woods?

Laminated basses are generally more resilient, and not sensitive to humidity changes, and therefore do not develop cracks and react to seasonal changes, raising or lowering action. Laminated bass' sounds have a generally more percussive attack with a quicker decay. Solid wood basses generally have a more musical tone and less percussive attack, with a more even and pleasing sustain.
