: Hey-
: I'm a pro jazz bassist (upright) and I just picked up a washburn ab-20 cuz I think it has a woody tone. What strings do you recommend to bring out the "upright" qualities of this bass? This one might be older because it doesn't have the XLR jack that I thought they all had. Does anybody know about this? Is this a liability, that is, are some people really into that XLR output?

Thomastik Acousticore strings were developed by Rick Turner for his bass- they are nylon core with a fine wire winding, lower tension, very warm and woody, and completely unlike the other ABG phosphor bronze strings, which have such a metallic sound. I am also an URB player.

I wouldn't worry about the XLR- no biggie.
