Thanks, glad you find it useful. While I am skeptical that a preamp would help if placed preceding the G-K preamp, bypassing the G-K's preamp, as I described above, may help. I'd try and borrow one to experiment-- perhaps you know an acoustic guitarist or someone with a K&K, LR Baggs, Fishman, etc., preamp -- doesn't have to be one designated for bass, so you can check it out.
