I just graduated from Berklee with a degree in jazz composition. I play electric bass and i'm about to get a double bass. I spent 3 months playing the double bass while still at berklee (that was the only time that there was a double bass available and i had some free time on my hands). I have a gig here (greece) with a band that plays mostly dixieland music but also some more advanced jazz standards and I would like to be able to play double bass in that band but also to get other gigs playing the double bass as well. I have a great desire to practice A LOT but i wanna make sure that i practice the right stuff. I did a couple of lessons with a teacher at berklee and he gave me the fingerings for all the major scales so i have those available. I would appreciate any piece of advice that an experienced player from this board would give me as to how i'll be able to be playing jazz standards within the next month or 2 (at the most) with a daily practice routine of approximately 5 hours. Thank you very much in advance.
