: Anyone have any luck using a mic on live gigs that are most of the time fairly loud? This could be the mic alone or mixed w.pick-up.What about AMT mics for bass ?Alot of heavy NY players are checking these out.Or Dave Holland's AKG 406C {Does this excist?] Any comments/feedback{No Pun] would be welcome. Thanks!

Hmmm, whatcha mean by fairly loud? The work I do is all straight ahead jazz (no "Daddies" bands)from duo to big band and I haven't had a problem with feedback. I use a Sennheisser MD409 U3 which will go through the amp or the house system by itself for some gigs or I'll put my pickup through the amp and the mic through the house system for larger rooms. The mic alone works best for situations that there is already a good acoustic sound/mix and ya just need a leetle extra to stay above the room or a little more out front. I haven't heard of AMT and I live in NYC. Who's using them?
