I hope this isn't too off-topic, but:
I just got rid of an Ampeg B-3 combo amp (2x8 and a horn with a 150watt head) and even though it was one of the BEST sounding amps I've ever used (in my opinion), it was absolutely too heavy for me to enjoy it. As a 5'3" female, my height/size was just not enough to easily get around with it. (ie., into my car, up stairs, etc.) It weighed probably about half as much as me. It felt perfectly light the day I bought it, of course, but that did not last. After nearly straining shoulders and wrists trying to move it, I sold it and bought a little Gallien-Kreuger MBS combo, and it sounds easily as good and clean and warm as the Ampeg (probably even better), and is about 1/3 the weight. I play more, I can carry my amp anywhere, I can carry it at the same time as my bass, I can fit it anywhere, and it just works out great.
About the models you mentioned, I remember looking at a Hartke kickback that was really cumbersome, but I didn't play through it. I wish I could say more positive stuff about Ampegs. If you're extremely rugged and have no shoulder problems, definately go with an Ampeg B-3 or BS or something. I had a Crate BX-something that was not bad, but nowhere near the GK or Ampeg. My advice is to find something that conveys your feel best WHILE BEING conveniently-sized! :) Good luck!
