: Iīm wondering if thereīs anyone who has tried this AMT microphone, Which Mark was asking about, I hate my pickups and Iīm seriously thinking of buying this mirophone. Please someone tell me if it erally works. I havenīt heard anything about this system but there are many nice players who use it.

I've never used them, but I've heard great things about the Schertler
pick-ups. Since acquiring a new bass I've been pick-upless. The pick-up
I had wouldn't fit in the wing of the new bridge so I've been in the
market for something new. I considered the Realist. My teacher uses it,
likes it, but says it nothing like a good mic. It's more affordable, but
I won't even consider it because I've heard stories about it leaving dings
in the top of the bass. I really want a mic, in my opinion a wide
diaphragm mic a couple of feet in front of the bass is best but it might
be inpracticle in gig situations with taking up more room and feedback and
so forth. I'll tell you though, the AKG 4000b (or something like that)
might be feasible. It can switch between omnidirectional (useless) and
cardioid (useful) and super-cardioid (very useful). I've heard from others
that the Schertler stuff sounds as good as a good mic but w/o the problems.
It's also as expensive.

Good luck in your search. Post back letting us know what you wound up
with and why.
