Charles: I would follow Ed's leads here. But would start with his last first: my guess is that it's a technique effect-- your plucking finger hitting the board or the adjacent string. If you don't get it plucking the E string I'd say that's it. Try consciously avoiding the "follow-through" of your plucking finger and see if that doesn't clear it up. Next try turning down the bass level on your amp or pre-amp EQ. I doubt it's strings, soundpost too seems unlikely. Of all acoustic resonance culprits, I would look next at the end-pin. Make sure it's snug and tight, etc.
