: I am considering purchasing a used 3/4 stand up that has a fiberglass body, and a crack in the Italian styled neck.
: I understand the neck will cost several hundred to replace, but is the fiberglass body comparable to wood?
: I'll only be spending several hundred, and this would be my first upright. Is it worth it?

"Several hundred" (I'm not sure what exact number you're thinking of) could possibly get you a used laminated bass-- I've never heard a fiberglas URB that sounded any good - personally, I'd rather have a cheap Englehardt. Your prospective purchase may be an exception, but I'd doubt it. I'd also be concerned that you wouldn't get your money out of it when you'd want to sell to upgrade. Just my .02
