: Can somebody tell me about François Rabbath's "New BassTechnigque",is it good for beginner ? and how do you fell when you study from it.
I worked on the "New Bass Technique" after I was a seasoned veteran. However, visualizing the entire fingerboard in 5 positions can make the task less daunting to a beginner. Also, Rabbath's approach is heavily scale and arpeggio oriented (playing a major scale with innumerable fingerings etc)which, if played religiously and with great consideration can allow a beginner to make enormous advances in a short time. Although scales and arpeggios can become quite boring, the numerous variations Rabbath suggests can sustain interest.
