: What is the best stand up bass for Rockabilly style music?

Kays and similarly well-built laminated basses (White American Standard, Englehardts) seem to be the most popular since they can endure the rigors of that style of play, and don't resonant and feed back as quickly as carved basses. I'd look for one with a rosewood or ebony fingerboard, rather than the economy maple fingerboard models, since the former will hold up better to slap. However, maple will sound ok-- you're just liable to be in for an eventual replacement-- not a huge deal if the bass is a good one at a good price.
