: ordred an 8850 plywood. comes in with nut cut, bridge cut, sound post fitted, ebony fingerboard on, and overall fit & finish checked. Comes with Rubner tuners. list is 2500, buying for about half new via net thru dealer. Does this sound like a good deal? Don't know what metal strings Mesiel puts on...anybody know? Overall does Meisel rate among better plywoods. I've read around the net without really hearing avoidance comments. I've never actually seen one "in the flesh". How does the neck feel, Rubner tuners?. Please comment

RE: Have you ever played a Meisel? It is a good student bass, I guess, but it is basically a poor copy of a Rubner. The neck always felt like a tree trunk to me,and the tone is kind of "Thumpy". I think they put Thomastics on 'em. But 1250 is not a bad price,so in that respect you got a fair deal.
