I have been through both Nanny and Simandl and I prefer the Nanny method. The method is layed out a little odd; you do some bowing, then you move right up the fingerboard to thumb position before you get back to doing any rhythms or bowing. There is Streicher published by Doblinger, I done some etudes by Bille(published by Riccordi) and enjoyed them. There is also the Bottesini published by Yorke and Rollez published by Billadout. My suggestion is to work out of the Nanny vol. 1 and 2. Use the bowing and rhythmic variations in volume 2 on the later etudes in volume one. When you need a break from that, and you will, mix up your practice with solos, Schirmer and Billadout have some good albums of solos(well priced).
