: I am an experienced electric bassist. I play both fretted and fretless electric bases. I am now interested in playing bouble bass. As I am not interested in studying with anyone at this time, is there anyone who can recommend a book or a place online where I can find information on locating the notes on a double bass? For example, where does first position end and second position begin, etc...? Playing that monster in tune must be quite challenging, but it is a welcomed challenge for me.
There's an italian book used in italian conservatories together with SIMANDHL METOD and it works really better. It's called BILLE' Metodo per contrabbasso (vol I e II) and it teaches you from the first half position to the next, and so on.Every section analyze one position with exercise on whatever you can do on that. It's the best method(better than SIMANDHL in the beggining).
It's printed by RICORDI Edizioni Musicali
