Hi. I am looking to buy a 3/4 bass for my 15 year old son. He has been playing a 5/8th size Juzek (plywood but very good sounding) for the last 4 years. Now he is too tall to use it.
He plays both classical (level 6 New York State Music Association rating) and swing, but mainly needs an instrument for orchestral playing.
We can afford up to $3000, assuming we can sell his current bass.
We've been given all sorts of advice about plywood vs carved at this price range and we are confused at this point.
Which type of instrument is right for a person of this age? What are the options, in your opinion... Thanks
