: Okay, here's a pygmy dilemma/treat for those of you who are, shall we say, more Technically Inclined than myself. (So, probably ANYONE reading this...) Anyway, I'm looking for an amp, preferably WELL under $700, and preferably very portable, that I can use with a 10" speaker, for BOTH my acoustic-upright 4 string (clad with The Realist pickup), AND my electric 6 sting bass guitar. I play mostly small-mediumish jazz-type gigs, and on louder gigs I can use a mic anyway, so this amp really just needs to be not too big, and sound SWEET and clean. I currently use an Ampeg B3 with 2 8" and a tweeter, but it's nearly 60lbs and that is toooo much for such a little amp. Any brilliant ideas? Thank you!!

I recently got an Acoustic Image Contra-- it's an amazing little box - you won't get any change from your $700, though. It's got a downfiring ten inch woofer and forward firing 5" for the mids and highs. The tiny little sucker is round. and smaller than an ottoman, and weighs just a tad over 25lbs. It is 200w as is, and 300w with a matching extension speaker-- it is not terribly loud, but just great for smaller gigs and I love the way it delivers URB sound. It also handles light electric bass gigs, and deals very well with the B on my five string. Has an XLR out, too, to send to the PA if necessary. URL below, photo above.
