: I just put a set of Obligato's on my carved top plywood this week and they are fantastic!!I had a set of Helicore Hybrids on for two years and the Obligatos blow them away.I'm mostly a jazz bassist and these strings bow better or easier than anything I've tried[I also run a bass shop] They have a wonderfull growl without being metalic and the tension is closer to metal[spiro's,etc] than a typical gut string. As for how long they will last I guess time will tell but at $98.00 US from SW Strings not a bad investment.Anyone out there with any comments on Obligatos longevity? Good luck on your search for the perfect string.

I've had them since the end of january 'OO and they don't show any signs of fatigue so far...I even had some work done on the bridge (for pickup mounting) which required to release the string tension. Anyone knows what's a reasonable lifespan for strings ?
