: The input impedance of the K&K Sound Power Pack, Model 97, and Dual Channel Preamps is 1 megohm; the specification is on their site as well as my own at http://www.gollihur.com/kkbass/preamps.html The value is enough, especially for the Realist, which indicates it doesn't require a preamp. I've sold a few dual channel preamps to Realist users along with a K&K Bass Max to supplement it.
Thanks for the info, Bob.
When I asked them, about a year and a half ago, all I got when asking the input impedance was that it was high...
Seems they decided to provide more information. I could have bought one at that time, but they lost a potential customer due to lack of information.
: : The higher the better.
: : My TW4001 tube DI had a 1 Megohms input impedance and I modified it to 3.3 Megs.
: My Acoustic Image Contra and Clarus amps each have a switch to change the load from 1 megohms to 10 megohms. I couldn't detect an audible different when directly interfaced with the K&K Bass Max.
With the K&K, but with another pickup it may be different.
With the Underwood I heard a difference with 1 Meg and 3.3 Meg.
He probably wouldn't notice a difference with the Realist, as you said.
